Open in 52 countries, IKEA is home to affordable décor, appliances, ready-to-assemble furniture and the well-renowned (and delicious) Swedish meatballs.
Pending the Grand Opening of the Logan IKEA Super Store in 2006, Maika Ter Horst, Simplex Director, was contracted to lead a small team of lift technicians to install the 11 commercial elevators.
Long hours and a whole lot of Swedish Meatballs later, this massive project was completed over a 2-month period. This was the largest IKEA store in the Southern Hemisphere at the time.

15 years later, all 11 lifts are still in operation and safely moving Queenslanders and their flatpacks through the Swedish Labyrinth.
“The project was definitely a challenge. The Goods Lifts are heavy duty, designed to transport people and stock. It was a great job to be a part of,” said Maika Ter Horst.
This project extended to the Homemaker Centre next door, adding an additional 5 commercial lifts to be installed.
